SO, many times we may have watched on TV talk shows how to duplicate an expensive outfit for a much cheaper price. Sometime the cheaper price is not really that cheap for the average, VERY AVERAGE American. SERIOUSLY tho, What is consider average nowadays? I guess depending who I ask I will receive different responses, I assume the better off the person is, the better off the response for the average jane would be. According to ME Mizz Mojica :) the average jane, would be define as, an individual in their mid-twenties living check by check, without a savings, learning the game for hustling LATE IN THE GAME! (omg smh), therefore the average jane does not care very much for fashion BUT understands she can not be looking a mess!
Just because I can not afford the expensive urban wear or the expensive European labels DOES NOT mean I will be walking around Boston looking a hot mess! No absolutely Not! I remember as a young child (lol okaii so this is my brown humor), but as a child my mom would want us to look extra poor when going to the welfare office and I did not understand why? I use to think to myself but mah we really are poor! Even in our best I think they should know we are poor! After reading one of the best book ever, "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry" by Mildred D. Taylor. I kept a teaching from one of the characters Big Ma, just because we are poor does not mean we have to be looking a mess :), with that said I follow those words precisely! And again Iam talking "american poor". What is American poor? well we are blessed with the neccessary and that is more than enough. But we can not afford anything extra that is not paper toilet and house cleaning supplies :) lol, forreal!
Since fashion can not be my number 1 priority, I wash my clothes every week and I mix and match so it wont look all too familiar, that is the average jane strategy for fashion survival. I really pride myself in being able to look good in last season clothing and putting my own twist of creativity and life, even if it is just a simple scarf! Now as an adult Iam left with two impressions that have parallel each other. The thought that I have to look poor in order to receive assistance and the thought that just because I am "poor" does not mean I have to be looking like a hobo. I feel like especially because I may be "poor" mula wise, I can not look a mess, I have to look presentable at all times!! So thats fashion according to me. Look your best at your financial worst! Fashion is more than labels and brands Fashion is Passion for Beauty :)!
